Caught In The Act

Performers

Caught In The Act recruits actors via agents, direct from drama school and from those with a background in youth theatre groups. Many of our actors have had their first professional job with us and have gone on to enjoy varied live performance careers as well as returning to CITA from time to time.

During every rehearsal period, actors receive training in the themes of the plays (e.g. drugs awareness) so that they are in a position to answer confidently and clearly any question that a young person may put to them. They are also given skills in working with young people as well as guidance in the light of a possible disclosure from an audience member.

If an actor does not already have CRB clearance, Caught In The Act will undertake to get it done. Meanwhile, every performer is obliged to sign a document (developed in consultation with a local authority child protection specialist) in which they state that they no have previous convictions or cautions for any sexual offence against a child. It is made clear to every school that it is essential that that Caught In The Act's staff should never left in charge of any child or children as they are not in loco parentis.

Caught in The Act's plays are presented by a team of four actors/workshops leaders, two of whom have an ethnic minority heritage.
