Autumn 2009 sees Caught In The Act's 20th anniversary. 20 years ago, the company was formed following a commission from Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge to help them with their campaign to increase HIV/AIDS awareness amongst young adults. A second commission swiftly followed from what was then Riverside Health Authority to deliver sexual health projects to teenagers. Although over the last two decades Caught In The Act's repertoire has extended to include smoking awareness, drugs & alcohol education, bullying prevention, equality & diversity training and preventing violent extremism, we hold dear to our original principles of using dynamic, new drama to capture our audience's attention and transform attitudes and behaviour.
Another new play, FUTURE PERFECT, has been added to our programme and has had its first short pilot tour in September. It explores sustainable development and is suitable for key stage 4.
As in previous years, we are marking anti-bullying week in November with a month long tour of our three plays, ASKING FOR IT, GOOD2TALK and SLAP HAPPY.
The training programme for new managers at Department of Transport, piloted in summer 2009, is now being rolled out throughout the forthcoming year.
Our sex & relationships education plays, alcohol & drugs plays and smoking awareness plays continue to tour throughout the academic year.
